The Japanese Tea Ceremony: Where Matcha Meets Mindfulness

The Japanese Tea Ceremony: Where Matcha Meets Mindfulness

Posted by mikayla mcclean on

The Japanese tea ceremony, or chanoyu, is a poetic ritual centered on matcha. More than just preparing tea, it's about being fully present, every motion deliberate, every detail honoured. This ceremonial way of drinking matcha was influenced by Zen Buddhism and elevated by tea master Sen no Rikyū, who introduced principles of simplicity, humility, and harmony.

At Ceremony Matcha, we bring that same sense of ritual to your daily cup. From Cape Town to Kyoto, matcha invites us to slow down and savour life, one chawan at a time.
